DR. D. T. OWEN ELECTED BISHOP OF TORONTO (Received September 19, 5.5 p.m.) MONTREAL, Sept. 18 Dr. D. T. Owen, Bishop of Toronto, has been elected Primate of the Church of England in Canada. Dr. Derwyn Trevor Owen, who has been Bishop of Toronto since 1932, was born at Twickenham, England, on July 29, 1876. He received his education at the Toronto Church School, Toronto, and Trinity College. University of Toronto. He was ordained to the ministry of the Church of England in Canada, becoming deacon in 1900, priest in 1901 and curate of St. James' Cathedral. Toronto, from 1902 to 1908. From 1908 to 1914 he filled the post of rector of Holy Trinijv Church, Toronto, when be was appointed rector and dean of Christ's Church Cathedral, Ha/nilton. Ontario. In 1925 Dr. Owen was consecrated Bishop of Niagara, which position he occupied until 1932. He married Miss Nora Grier Jellett, daughter of the late Judge R. P. Jellett, of Picton, Ontario, in 1904, and they have three sons and two daughters.
