MORE EXECUTIONS

POLICEMEN IN VIENNA OTHERS SENT TO PRISON VIENNA, August 13 In a Court guarded by troops with machine-guns and fixed bayonets Ludwig Maitzen, Erich Wohlrab, Franz Leeb and Josef Hackl, four policemen, were sentenced to death for participation in the recent raid on the Chancellery. They were executed within three hours of being sentenced, the President, Herr Miklas, having refused to accede to a request for clemency. Emil Schrott, a police inspector, and another constable were sentenced to imprisonment for life, two others to 20 years, and one to 15 years' penal servitude. The trial had lasted six days. The defence pleaded that the accused were not aware that they were participating in a revolt. Two hundred and sixty Viennese policemen have been arrested since the discovery of a list of members of the Nazi Party during a search of a policeman's house.
