MOTOR-CYCLIST INJURED
THROWN FROM MACHINE CONDITION FAIRLY SERIOUS Concussion, severe lacerations of the right leg, and injuries to a hand were received by Mr. Allan McGruer, aged 22, a member of the ground staff of the Mangere aerodrome, as the result of an accident on the New North Road, Mount Albert, shortly after 5.30 p.m. yesterday. Mr. McGruer was riding a motorcycle in the direction of Avondale and when a short distance beyond the block of shops at the former tram terminus, apparently skidded. His machine struck a power-pole at the side of the road, and Mr. McGruer was thrown heavily on to the footpath and seriously injured. He was taken by a St. John ambulance to the Auckland Hospital, and his condition last night was reported to be fairly sferious. Mr. McGruer is well known in Auckland as the pilot of the small Tui monoplane built by Mr. F. A. N. North, ground engineer at the Mangere aerodrome.
