FORFEITURE SOUGHT POSITION REGARDING OPTION [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] THAMES. Tuesday What was described as a peculiar claim for forfeiture was heard by the warden, Mr. F. W. Platts, S.M., in the Thames Warden's Court this morning. -William Henry Hughes, applied for the forfeiture of the Block 27 claim at present held by the Thames Borough Commissioner, Mr. C. L. Grange, as trustee for tlio Thames Prospecting Association. The applicant stated that on behalf of a group of mining men ho had offered a good price to the association for tlio claim. It would have been accepted by the association, but an option had' been given to an Australian group. The property was held undor a prospecting licence, stated tlio applicant, but no work had been dono on it. A report and plan had been prepared by Mr, E. I°. Adams, and had been given to the option holder with the object of selling. Littlo_ progress had been made in raising capital. In evidence, Mr. Grange said an option had been given to a representative of a company in Sydney. He had declined to release the option.' As a result, the association had to keep faith with the option holder and ask for a line to bo imposed instead of forfeiture being decreed. Mr. Grange admitted that no work had been done on the claim.
