SHIPMENT OF ONIONS
GOOD CANADIAN SALE PRICE ABOVE GUARANTEE [EX TELEGRAPH —SPECIAL REPORTER], WELLINGTON. Tvesday Very favourable reports ' have been received regarding the reception and disposal of a recent shipment ~to Canada of onions grown in New Zealand. The Hon. I?. Masters, Minister of Industries and Commerce, said this eveniug that, the shipment, which was arranged by a Christchurch firm, and 10,000 bags of- which were guaranteed by the Government, had proved successful in every' way. The price obtained had been in excess of the guarantee, and the Government would not lose a penny over the arrangement. The growers had every reason to feel pleased with tlio way itx which their onions had been disposed of, and they would also benefit from the New Zealand local demand being stimulated by the export of such a largo quantity. The Canadian shipment, most of which was made up by Marshland growers, was the second of its kind. A successful trial shipment was sent last year.
