TWO MEN'S SHORT RELEASE BOOTS STOLEN FROM SHOP A charge of stealing a pair of boots valued at 8s 6d, the property of Samuel Donaldson, was admitted by Alexander McGregor, aged SG, and William Black, aged 29. who appeared before Mr. W. R. McKean, S.M., in the Police Court yesterday. Sub-Inspector Scott said the accused came out of prison only on Monday. They called at the shop of Mr. Donaldson, Mayor of Newmarket, in Khyber Pass Road, and asked for meal tickets, but they were told there wero none. Later they returned and stole tho boots. Mr. Donaldson followed them, and, witli others, detained them.

Each accused was sentenced to a month's imprisonment. McGregor, who was also charged with drunkenness, was convicted and discharged on that count.
