CITY ABATTOIRS SYSTEM "HUMANE KILLER" NOT USED A statement that the Auckland City Council abattoirs did not use the "humane kilter," referred to in a statement by the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals on Monday, was made yesterday by Mr. 6. Grey Campbell, chairman of the Public Services Committee of the council. Ho said that one of the instruments had been ordered, but a report by a special Parliamentary Committee set up by the British Ministry of Health had shown that the* use of the killer affected the quality of the carcases, and as a result the killer was not used at the abattoirs. . '
