"THE DUBARRY"
WILLIAMSON OPERA COMPANY The box plans will be opened at nine o'clock this morning for tho initial and subsequent productions of tho London comic opera success, "Tho Dubarry," in which, Miss Sylvia Welling, the noted English actress, will make her first appearance in New Zealand at His Majesty's Theatre on Saturday night. "The Dubarry" is said to be the most expensive attraction ever toured by the J. C. Williamson, Limited, management, and for its representation 100 artists, including a full grand opera chorus and orchestra, aro essential. A staff of mechanics and electricians arrived from Sydney on Monday last, bringing with them a largo portion of the scenery and effects. . There is so much material necessary l'or the production of "The Dubarry" that the whole of tho stock scenery at present located in His Majesty's Theatre lias had to be- removed and tho store itself also has had to be cleared. The opera was produced by Frederick Blackmail, after witnessing its London representation. Only a limited number of performances of "The Dubarry" can be given, and it will be followed by the famous comic opera, "Waltzes from Vienna."
