DARGAVILLE RAILWAY
PLEA FOR COMPLETION SUPPORT AT WHANGAREI * / ' • [from oub own cobbesfondent] WHANGAEEI, Tuesday A decision to support the people of Dargaville in their endeavour to have completed the gap in the railway system between Tangowahine and Dargaville was made at a meeting of the Whangarei Borough Council last night. The council appointed the Mayor, Mr. W. Jones, and Mr. E. G. W. Tibbits as delegates to attend a public meeting convened by the Mayor of Dargaville, to be held on Thursday evening. "The wisdom of constructing the line from Waiotira to Tangowahine," 6aid Mr. J. E. Holmes, "does not now enter into the question. The delegates from this council should have full authority to support the people of Northern Wairoa in any action they may take for attaining their objective," .
Mr. T. Mitchell said that, while not opposing the proposed action, he considered the people of the Dargaville district should be prepared to give full support to the line with their trade. He wished to know whether they had given an undertaking to support the line, and said he would like further particulars before giving the delegates authority to fully support the representations to bo made to the Government.
Several other members of the council endorsed Mr. Mitchell's views.
