FARMING PROBLEMS
Sir, —Permit me to ask in what way are the dairy farmers of New Zealand to-day better off than they were 12 months ago. I am prompted particularly to ask this by the remarks of ihe Hon. E. A. Ransom on the Government's assistance to .farmers bearing fruit. This roads as if all farmers had been liberally assisted, whereas • they have not had tho assistance accorded to other sections of the community. The figures relating to Crown land tenants cannot be used to embrace the whole farming industry. Collectively speaking, tho increase in output and capital return to tho country is evident, but individually a very different state exists. My own experience* is wholly adverse to the Minister's statement. Purchasing my farm in 1029 and just doubling tho output of fat per year, 1 am still very much worso off than tho previous owner, and also as hard, if not harder, hit financially as I was last year. Farmer.
