LORRY-DRIVER FINED
INTOXICATION ADMITTED SEQUEL TO COLLISIONS A plea of guilty was entered by Percv Addleburt Lupton, aged 41, motordriver (Mr. Jordan), when charged in the Police Court on Saturday with being found in a state of intoxication while in charge of a motor-lorry. Sub-Inspector Edwards said that about 5.30 p.m. on Friday a motorlorry driven by accused collided with a stationary motor-cycle and side-car in Great North Road, Grey Lynn. Accused stopped the lorry, but drove away as the cyclist came on the scene. A little lator ho returned and collided with a parked mojor-car near where the first accident occurred. He was detained by Constable Rushton and certified by a doctor as being "very, definitely under the influence of liquor." He was a first offender.
Tho magistrate, Mr. F. K. Hunt, imposed a fine, of £lO, in default ono month's imprisonment, and ordered the pavment of 12s witness' expenses and 10s Gd doctor's fee. Accused was permitted to retain his driver's licence on condition that he took out a prohibition order. Seven days were allowed in which to pay the fine.
