TAKAPUNA LEAGUE

ANNUAL MEETING HELD It was stated at the annual meeting of the Takapuna Citizens' Welfare League, held in the Council Chambers on Friday evening, that an exceptionally helpful year had passed as the result of the hard work and co-operation of members in conjunction with kindred societies. Mr. J. W. Williamson presided and Mr. J. Guiniven, Mayor of Takapuna, paid tribute to the line work which had , been carried out by the society.

A protest against the rise in milk prices is to be made to the Metropolitan Milk Board, as it was stated that the new prices would affect relief families and ultimately cause malnutrition. A resolution was also passed protesting against the action of the labour department in refusing to allow the. cutting of firewood by men working under the No.. 5 scheme.

The balance-sheet showed that income for the year had amounted to £455 16s 2d. The sum of £3l 8s had been expended on maternity cases and £3B 3s on medicine. The society was left with a credit balance of £32 9s 7d.
