A MORNING TEA
MRS. S. M. BRUCE GREETED ' VISIT TO MUSEUM ' In the short time at her disposal in Auckland 011 Saturday, from the time the Monterey arrived in the morning until it left for Los Angeles in the afternoon, Mrs. S. M. Bruce, wife of the Australian High Commissioner in London, was made very welcome by a number of Auckland citizens. A morning tea was given in her honour at the Lyceum Club by the Mayoress, Mrs. G. W. Hutchison, to enable a few Auckland women to meet both Mrs. Bruce and Mrs. G. W. Forbes; wife of the New Zealand Prime Minister. Owing to the necessarily short notice a. few of the invited guests were unable to be present, but there was quite a representative gathering, who listened with interest while Mrs. Bruce told, in conversation, of her experiences irt' London as the wife of Australia's High Commissioner. Among those invited were:—Mrs. Bruce, Mrs. G. \V. Forbes, Lady Day, Lady Sinelair-Lockhart, Lady Bankart, Lady Leys, Lady Herdman, Mrs. Austin Carr, Mrs.' Ernest Davis, Mrs. W. A. Perkins, Mrs. Selwyn Upton, Mrs. J. H. Frater, Mrs. W. F. Boyle, Mrs. F. Burges Watson, Mrs. J. F. Ewen, Mrs. Michaels and Mrs. Edward Itussell. Mrs. B nice was later the guest of rs. G. W. Forbes at a luncheon party given at the Grand Hotel. The guests included Lady Day, the Mayoress, Mrs. G. W. Hutchison, Lady Sinclair-Lock-hart and 3lrs. H. Horton. Afterwards 31 rs. Bruce was taken for a drive around the waterfront, finishing with a visit to the Museum. Mrs. Bruce was very much impressed with the Hall of Memories and the Cenotaph, and the Maori section of the Museum greatly interested her.
