PROGRESS OF PORT
FACILITIES AT WHANGAREI LARGE VESSEL TO CALL [from OUll OWN correspondent] WHANGAREI, Saturday Information has been received by the Whangarci Harbour Board that a large cargo steamer belonging to the Bank Line is to visit Whangarci shortly. The vessel is -120 ft. long and draws 20ft., and is arriviing from Nova Scotia. It will berth at the new wharf at Kioreroa.
The fact that a vessel of such size is to visit the port is an indication of the excellent facilities that now exist at Kiorcrort for the handling of large overseas ships.
Henderson and Macfarlane, Limited, Auckland, have received information that one of the Bank Line steamers is to leave Liverpool, Nova Scotia, shortly for New Zealand with a cargo of newsprint. The vessel will probably call first at Auckland and then proceed to Whangarci, Wellington and Timaru. ft is not yet known which of the company's steamers is to make the trip, or when the vessel will arrive in New Zealand.
