FLAX PLANTS FOR JAPAN
REGULATION NOT LIKELY [iJV TEI.EURAI'H —OWN correspondent] WELLINGTON, Saturday Though there was recently strong criticism of a proposal to ship New Zealand flax plants to Japan, it was found that there exists no legal liar, and the steamer Brisbane Marti,' which left here on Wednesday, took 10,000 carefully packed two-year-old plants. This is understood to be the only shipment, the original reports regarding the Japanese demand being exaggerated. Inquiries in official circles lail to support the suggestion that the export of flax plants will bo prohibited by Ordcr-in-Council. The matter is not at present regarded as urgent.
