MILITARY CAMP
MEN AT TAURANGA BUSY WEEK'S TRAINING [FROM OUR OWN" CORXIKSrONDKNT] TAURANGA, Saturday The men of tho First Battalion, Hauraki Regiment, spent a busy time in camp on the High School rescrvo this week. A field day was held on the Gate Pa racecourse on Thursday, an aeroplane from the Hobsonville air base taking part. The troops then moved to tho historic site of the Gate Pa battle, where a descriptive address of the Mao.ri War engagement was given by Lieutenant L. It, Wilkinson, of Tauranga. Great interest was taken in tho references to the important part played by the old Forty-third Monmouthshire.?, now the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry, to which the Hauraki Regiment is allied. The ceremony of trooping the colour was witnessed by a large gathering on tho Domain yesterday afternoon, tho salute being taken by LieutenantColonel F. Prideaux, commanding the First Battalion, Hauraki Regiment. The battalion struck camp this morning. In spite of the fact that there were several wet days, tho camp was very successful, and was greatly enjoyed by officers and men.
