BRITISH BY-ELECTION
POLLING IN LOWESTOFT CONSERVATIVES HOLD SEAT (Received February 18, 5.5 p.m.) British Wireless RUGBY, Feb. 17 A by-election for the Lowestoft seat in the House of Commons, rendered vacant by the appointment of the sitting Conservative member, Sir Gervais Rentoul, as a magistrate, was held yesterday. The poll resulted as follows: — Mr. P. C. Loftus (Conservative) 15,912 The Rev. R. Sorcnsen (Labour) 13,992 Mr. W. Smith (Independent Liberal) 3,304
The poll for the Lowestoft seat at the general election in October, 1931, resulted:—Sir G. Rentoul (Conservative), 22,886; Mr. E. J. C. Neep (Labour), 10,891.
