llio winner wus turned out in good order R. J. Mateer and ho won well at tho finish, easily outstaying Unoco. Drown Aobey is a full-brother to Quinetto and is a solid type who should win niore laces. Unoco looked liko winning when he assumed the lead tne back, but Lo weakened ilear the end and once again had to be content wiih a minor placing. Dark Marble run a fair raco for a beginner, but tho others wero woll beaten. Record Flight Fails „ The top weight, Record Flight, was an <iach-way favourite for tho Ilinuera. Handicap, but, after beiug up in the lead to tho turn, he faded out at tho end and missed f. place.. Adeline was three-parts of a length away third and En Tour was up fourth. Next to finish wero Royal Secret and Maori Jack.

Tuaheaho displayed improvement upon his Thames running and won very decisively, coming from behind and going away from tho others at the end. Huskio was also running on at the finish, but had no chance with th© winner. Adeline displayed a nice turn of speed and also battled on fairly well at tho end. En Tour wa3 closer at tho finish than at any other stage and Royal £!ecret did best of the others. Record Flight again displayed speed, but failed to go on at tho finish.

The lightwoight, Hampton Park, scored an overdue win in the Waharoa Handicap, for which he was third fancy on the win mo.chino and favourite for a place. Limex showed out first from Hampton Park and Paganelli and when the field had settled down Hampton Park ind Coronis were together in front from Limex, Sinking Fund. Paganelli and Princo Val, Hampton Park was jußt in front _ from Coronis entering t.io straight with Limes, Sinking Fund and Paganelli h l andy. Hampton Park ran cn strongly at the finish and won nicely by a length from Limex, who was half-a-length in front of Coronis. Sinking Fund was fourth, followed by Paganelli and Prince Yal. Hampton Park in Form It was Hampton Park's. first win sir ce he scored at Ellerslie last April. Ho is in great heart at present and ran on better tiian usual at the finish. Limex made a good showing, finishing strongly on tho nils. Coronis showed signs of regaining form and, as it was her first race for Bomj t:rne, she may eoon do better. Sinking Fund failed to showed his best, while Paganelli and Prince Val wero, never really dangerous. Caliente was an each-way favourite for t.fie Matamata Hack Cup and she realised expectations by winning handsomely. Killadar and Teels were auickly in the lead and t.h.ey made play early from Emancipation. \ alueless, Caliente and Cherry King. Teels and Killadar continued to make the running along the back and they were still together in the lead at the top closely followed by Caliente, Cherry King, Last Lap. Gay Broney and Ornamental. Caliente dished into the lead at the turn and waa first straight from Killadar, Teels. Cherry King, Last Lap and Gay Broney. Caliente gave nothing a chance in tho ruji hsme and drew away to win easily by four lengths from Last Lap, who defeated D'Artagnan by a head. Killadar was fourth, followed by Gay Broney. Teels and Emancipation.

Caliente is an improved mare and she won very convincingly, giving notlving a chance ai the finish. She ran out the mile and a-qtiarter and 15 yards in attractive fashion and gives the impression that she is. going to stay well. Caliente is out of Phar Lap's lister. Fortune's Wheel, and is by the imported sire Polazel. Last Lap ran a fine race and is also much improved. D'Artagnan was right in the rear most of the way and came home splendidly, just failing to get up second. Killadar failed iiisar the end and Gay Broney made a creditable showing without having tho best of the luck. Defeat of Chief Lap Solarium, second fanjy to Chief Lap on both machines, finished resolutely to win the Railway Hack Handicap from King MeStor. Chief Lap, King Mestor and Phaikio" Were Smartest to begin, Chief Lap and Grand City leading across the toD from Phiakuo, Lapstone, Solarium and Rose Lupin. Chief Lap and Grand City were still tcgether in front at tho turn from Phiakuo. Lapstone, Solarium anld King Mestor, In a fi:ie raco home Solarium got up to win bv three-parts of a length from King Mestor. who beat Phiakuo by a neck. Grand City was fourth, followed by Gay RoseSolarium ran on splendidly, finishing with determination on the outside. The four-year-old is improving with racing and looks like being very useful if he keeps sound. King Mestor made a fine showing and the honours were with him as he was conceding tho winner nearly two stone.

The Putaruru Stakes was n.arred by a bad start, tho favourites. Bally Money. Pound Sterling and Bonny Joyce, all getting away slowly. Street Dancer and Royal Secret were smartest to begin and led along the back from Dinelli, Lady Diana and Bnlly Money. Royal Secret was in front at tho top and mnde play into tho straight from Dirielli, Bally Money, Street Dancer and Pound Sterling. Royal Secret was just clear at tho distance and stayed on to score by two lengths from Bally Money. Street Dancer was half-a-length away third nnd Pound Sterling was right up fourth. Next to finish were Lady Diana and Dinelli.

Royal Secret was having her second start for the day, as sho had previously run in the Hinnera Handicap. She' was assisted by the fact that she got away well in the straggling start and she appeared to be lucky to beat Bally Money and Pound Sterling, both of whom (jot away badly. Pound Sterling did well to get fourth after boing left and was a good thing beaten. Street Dancer returned double-figures for third. Favourites in Dividends The public was right oil the mnrk in the Okoroire Handicap, when the favourites, Courthaven and Last Lap.'finished first nnd second Barograph nnd Englishman readier} the front quickly and led in the early stages from ■ Woodful, Last Lap and Don't Lap, with Courthaven Inst. Last Lap made a sharp run nearing the home turn and was first intd the straight from Englishman. Wpodful, Barograph. Don't Lap and Courthaven. Last Lap was still in command inside the disrtnr.qe, but Cuirthnven finished strongly on the outside to beat him bv a n?ck. Don't Lap . was n. head awav third and Woodful was fourth, with Englishman and Barograph rext. It was a fine finish and Courthaven did best after being in the rear most of the way. She is just striking her true form and. as she stays on lath.n' well; may soon score again. Last Lap ran another fine race and may have made it more difficult for the winner if he lind not commenced his run nuite so cnrly. Don't Lap was a shnde urtucK.v in the 'etraight, but he was running on at the end. Woodful looked very likely with a furlong to go and may be more tioublesome the first tirno ho strikes an easy track. Only four started in the Walton Handicap an J tho favourite. Chief Cook, duly won, being all out nt the finish to score from King Mestor, who had run second earlier in the day to Solarium. Limex mnde play early from Prince Val. Chief Cook and King Mestor. Chief Cook .ran up to Limex after they had covered slightly over two furlongs and at the top they were together just nliend of tho other pair. Chief Ccok held a slight advanlnge at the distance nnd went on to win by a length nnd a-half from Kino: Mestor, who defeated Lirnex by a length. Prince Val was last, After getting a good chance to Stid his feet early. Chief Cook was always going like a winner when ho ioined Limex in front and always had the advantage in the Inst furlong, nlthough he was ridden right out. with tie whip. King Mestor and Limex again performed creditably and more should be heard of them on the country circuit. ROTORUA CUP ACCEPTOR Whakapara. 8.8., has to be added to the list of acceptances for the Rotorua Cup Handicap.
