TRAGIC SANTA CLAUS LETTER
CHILD BURNED TO DEATH A five-year-old hoy's death from burns, received while sending messages to Father Christinas up the chimney, was revealed at an inquest at Rugeley, Staffordshire, recently. The child, Douglas Blood, it was stated, was playing with three other children. His mother, who had gone upstairs, heard screams and, rushing down, found the boy in flames. An elder brother said Douglas was making spills from an old dictionary and writing messages on them to Father Christmas. Ho leaned over the fireguard to put one of these spills on the (ire, but when alight it was blown back by the draught, and set his shirt on fire.
