TIME TO PREPARE DEFENCE [from OUR OWN correspondent] HAMILTON, Tuesday A request that Counsel be assigned to him was made by Walter Page, aged 61, when ho was charged in the Supreme Court to-day with unlawful carnal knowledge. _ Mr. Justice Smith said that accused had asked for an Auckland counsel, who had interviewed him. That request could not bo acceded to, but a Hamilton counsel would bo assigned to him. Accused said he was only arrested on August 15, and there was insufficient time to prepare the defence for this session of the Court. He asked that the case be adjourned until the next session. His Honor said if counsel considered ho could not prepare the defence in time, an adjournment wtTuld be granted. Later, at the request of counsel, the case was adjourned until the next session.
