ARBITRATION COURT

SITTING IN AUCKLAND HEARINGS START TO-MORROW The Arbitration Court commenced a session in Auckland yesterday, when it sat to make fixtures. Mr. Justice Frazer presided, associated with him being Mr. W. Cecil Prime, assessor for the employers, and Mr. A. L. Monteith, assessor for the employees. More than 30 fixtures were made, and the hearing of these will occupy the Court until September 20. The following day it will go to Hamilton. Tho hearings for which fixtures hare been made include 19 compensation cases, three industrial disputes and a number of applications requesting tho Court to add parties to awards, to make industrial agreements into awards and to hear matters concerning apprenticeships. Some questions provisionally set down for hearing were struck out yesterday when' it was reported that settlements had been reached. Consideration of the various cases will commence to-morrow, when the Court will hear a number of applications under section 14 of the Apprentices - Amendment Act, and an application by the Auckland plumbers and gasfitters to have an agreement made into an award.
