Bitchener, Minister of Public Works and acting-Minister of Education, arrived in Kotorua to-day. During the afternoon he inspected the Whakarewarewa native school, the Rotorua High School and the Baths. In connection with the Whakarewa- l rewa school, it was decided that certain additions be made, which will b« of a temporary nature, until the financial situation warrants the building of a new school. The Minister received recommendations from the headmaster of the High School and the chairman of the High School Board on the question of the addition of a social hall to the High School. The Minister said he would confer with officers of the department and report to the Minister of Education on the matter on his return to Wellington. To-morrow the Minister will visit Galatea and the outlying districts, and on Thursday he will probably visit Maori land development blocks in the district. He will then visit Taupo on his way to Waimarino.
