MOUNT ALBERT BOROUGH

NEW MAYOR INSTALLED The new Mayor of Mount Albert,' Mr. R. E. Ferner, was formally installed at the Borough Council Chambers last evening before a large attendance. After receiving the congratulations of members of the council, Mr. Ferner expressed appreciation of the promises of support made to him. "I am deeply imbued with the necessity for cooperation between all interests and parties at the present time," he said. "I feel that if we all pull together, vro shall be able to do much of real value to the borough." He deprecated the idea of treating the council as a gathering in whicfc to debate all sorts of controversial subjects, and expressed the opinion that the council should confine itself to matters of direct relation to the welfare of the residents.

Mr. H. L. Kayes was formally granted two months' leave of absence on account of illness, and a motion of sympathy was passed.
