CATHOLIC CHARITY BALL j j PRESENTATION OF DEBUTANTES j 1 The largest and most spectacular ball to be held in Rotorua for some years was the Catholic Debutante Charity Ball, which took place in the A. and P. Show Buildings on Wednesday evening. Bishop Liston, Roman Catholic Bishop of Auckland, was present, and during the evening 35 debutantes made their bow to him. Tbe matrons of honour were: —Mrs. E. J. Carroll, who wore mulberry ring velvet trimmed with brown fur, and Mrs. W. 1'- Snell, who was in a frock of mulberry ring velvet with a coatee of velvet edged with beige fox fur. The committee consisted of Mesdames E. J. Carroll, M. ] C. Goodger, Miss P. Glass, Messrs. J. T. Cunningham, W. T. Garth, A. J. Harron, F. Newmarch, and H. Norris. The honorary secretary was Mr. W. E. Tollan. the hall was very beautifully decorated with lycopodium and flags, while from the ceiling hung rows of many coloured lights interspersed with foliage. The supper room was a mass of foliage and fruit blossom, and artistically arranged on the supper tables were bowls of Iceland poppies. presentation of the debutantes was heralded by two pages, dressed alike in satin suits.

Frandi, ivory Chantilly lace with short puff sleeves; Miss I. Jamieson, ivory velvet with gracefully gored skirt; Miss K. Constance, cream georgette with insets of Venetian lace; Miss E. Jones, Swiss embroidered white organdie inset with flared godets; Miss F. Ellis, white polka-dotted net, with shoulder cape; Miss T. Kereti, ivory georgette with tight bodico and full skirt; Miss M. Kereti, crepe romaine with capette sleeves; Miss J. Windeler. white crepe de chine finished at_ the waist with a tulle bow; Miss J. Lillas, white crepe romaine with frilled silk net godets; Miss D. Cronin (Ngongotaha), white georgette bodice with frilled skirt of silk coin-spotted net; Miss C. Cronin (Ngongotaha), ivory georgette with Chantilly lace yoke and cowl neck-line; Miss L. Downey, ivory tulle with a full frilled skirt; Miss M. Downey, ivory chiffon velvet; Miss R. Downey, crystal crepe and souple satin; Miss E. Wilson, white flat crepe; Miss F. Goodver, satin beaute bodico with fully flared georgette skirt; Miss I. Rika, satin beaute with a yokfe of silk net; Miss M. Rika, satin beaute with a yoke of silk net; Miss T. Smith (Mamaku), ivory georgette over satin; Miss L. Hemmings (Mamaku), cream velvet with a frilled lace skirt; Miss F. McCarthy (Mamaku), ivory crepe satin with coin-spotted skirt; Miss J. Brennin (Mamaku), white Nottingham lace; Miss M. Riini (Whakatane), ivory embossed georgette; Miss 0,. Bracken (Whakatane), ring velvet, flared from knees; Miss M. Chadwick (Whakatane), cream crinkle crepe with frilled tulle sleeves; Miss K. Chadwick (Whakatane), ivory wind-swept satin with flared silk net sleeves; Miss C.
