OPERATIC SOCIETY

SOCIAL EVENING HELD Active members of tho Auckland Amateur Operatic Society and all who helped in the society's recent production of "I <cs Cloches cle Corneville" were entertained at a social evening and dance in the society's hall, Grafton Road, last evening. The dance programme, for which the music was provided by the Columbians' orchestra, was interspersed with enjoyable items, including songs by Mr. G. Fagan, Miss G. Wilson and Mr. Leo O'Mallev, duets by ISliss llttth Scott and Mr. R. G. Simmers and by Miss Gladys McAneny rind Mr. Sutherland, a dance number by Miss Joyce Wright and humour by Mr. Dan Flood. Among those present were: —Mrs. W. J. A. Thomson, who wore a frock of ravenswing blue lace and georgette; Mrs. M. Brett Noil, in oyster and black beaded georgette; Mrs. R. T. Sawers, gold and orango brocade; Mrs. Hunt, cigar brown lace and georgette; Mrs. Tan Simson, shell pink georgette and beige lace; Mrs. H. Lock, parchment lace and georgette; Mrs. J. Hislop, fuchsia embossed georgette; Miss Dorothy Knox, black angelskin lace over cameo pink chiffon; Miss Audrey McDonnor, apple green souple satin; Miss Judy Aickin, sage green floral georgette; Miss Chapman, apple green crepe suede trimmed with mauve and green swansdown; Miss Gladys McAneny. briar rose Hat crepe; Miss Cynthia Lambert, white frilled georgette; Miss Joan Thomson, waterlily green tiered satin; Miss C. Marsack, pervencho blue frilled satin; Miss E.
