MANUKAU t AMATEUR CLUB SENIOR AND JUNIOR RACES Fine weather favoured the Manukau Amateur Cycling Club for its two road races on Saturday. A southerly breeze slowed tho riders on tho back stretch of the triangular course at Avondale South, but otherwise racing conditions were good. Nino juniors competed in tho four laps' race of 10 miles. A keen contest resulted between E. R. Hansen, tho lone scratch rider, and L. C. Craddock and G. W. Holland for timo honours, which eventually went to the last-named. The placed juniors were:—G. Leonard (3m 15s), 31m 435, 1; A. W. J. Brumby (4m), 32m 293, 2; D. J. Richardson (4m), 32m 30a, 3; H. J. Ball (4m), 32m 31s, 4. Fastest time was established by G. W. Holland, lm 15s, who outsprinted his fellow-marker, L. C. Craddock, by a length to clock 3pm 425. Twenty-eight seniors started in the 1 six laps' race of 15 miles. The lone scratch man, L. H. Dwight, gave away starts up to Cm. At the half-distance, 7 J miles, Beart. the ultimate winner, and McLellan were leading, with a bunch of 12 riders two minutes behind, but overhauling them rapidly. Beart and McLellan finished with 200 yds to spare, Beart winning the sprint by a length. LYNNDALE CLUB The Lynndale Amateur Athletic and Cycle Club held a race on Saturday over 18? miles at New Lynn. Following are the results:— E. L. Hughes (2m 15s), 59m 31s, 1; L Roberts (lm 30s). GOm 58s, 2; C. Gooder (scr), GOm 17s, 3; B. Scott (lm), Glni 17 3-ss, 4. Hughes registered fastest timo. TAKAPUNA CLUB The Takapuna Amateur Cycling Club held an open race for seniors and juniors* combined of 22} miles over the lake circuit on Saturday afternoon for the King Cup. lhe race resulted in a win for a junior ruler, M. Laurie, on 12m, with P.Bowden (12m) second and A. Chaplin (8m) third. 4 AII tho placed riders' were juniors. Fastest time was recorded by B. Sharp (scr), who covered the course in 59m 345. The winner's time was 70m, Bowdcn's timo being only one second more. AUCKLAND CLUB The Auckland Cycle Club held a junior race of 5J miles and a senior time trial of 20J miles and sealed handicap at Tamaki on Saturday. Following are the results:— Junior Race.—K. THAMES, Saturday The Thames Cycle Club held a -24 miles race to-day under ideal conditions. W. Burr, limit, rode a solid race and finished first. 11. B. Cotterall, limit, also showed good form for his first raco and was second. Ware gained fastest timo by 2 minutes from Kdkins. The result was:—W. Burr. Gm, 1; 11. B. Cotterall, Gm, 2; S. Jones. sm, 3. Saturday The Whakatano Cycle Club held its Grst road race of tho season to-day over the 10* miles borough cquise. Conditions wero ideal and a record number of riders faced the starter.
