BARMAN ARRESTED
HOTEL RAIDED BY POLICE GAMING LAW CHARGE A barman, Harry McDonald, aged 44, was arrested by Detective-Sergeant McHugli and Detectives Moore and Brady when they raided the public bar of the City Club Hotel in Shorthand Street at about 12.30 p.m. on Saturday. Later McDonald appeared before Mr. J. Donald, J.P., on a charge of using the public bar of the hotel as a common gnning house. He was remanded until this morning, on bail of £IOO. The unusual sight of the bar doors being closed for about half an hour while the detectives searched the bar caused surpriso among passers-by, and a small crowd assembled. Several men who were in the bar when the detectives arrived were informed that it was being raided and they left, several not remaining to finish their drinks.
