WOMAN'S TRAGIC DEATH j DISCOVERY BY HUSBAND DEVOTION TO HER MOTHER [by TELEGRAPH OWN correspondent] ROTORUA, Saturday Found enveloped in llames early this morning, Mrs. Ivy Florence Munro, aged 39, wife of Mr. F. T. Munro, confectioner, was so severely burned that she died in hospital a few hours later. Shortly after midnight Mr. Munro discovered that his wife was not in bed and ho made a search of the house. Ho then walked to the back of the premises and when at the back door ho heard what sounded like a slight explosion. Screams were then heard, and on looking down the yard Mr. Munro saw flames issuing from tho fowlhouse at the foot of tho section. He ran down tho path and was horrified to find his wife enveloped in flames. There was a strong smell of benzine. Mr. Munro immediately procured sacks and extinguished tho flames. He then went, for assistance, and, with a neighbour, carried Mrs. Munro into tho house. In the meantime a doctor had been summoned, and the woman was immediately taken to the King George V. Hospital. Her injuries were found to be very grave, and death occurred in a few hours. An inquest was opened to-day by tho district coroner, Mr. W. L. Richards, and the evidence of the husband was taken. It was stated deceased had nursed her mother through a six weeks' illness, and had been greatly affected by her mother's death. Since then deceased had suffered a serious breakdown in health. The coroner commented on the devotion Mrs. Munro had entertained toward her mother and tho effect her mother's death had had on her. Tho inquest was adjourned sine die.
