DRAW FOR CHATHAM CUP AUCKLAND TO PLAY NAVY , The draw for the firet of the local qualifying rounds of the Chatham Cup competition was made by the senior division of the Auckland Football Association last evening with the .following results:—Ponsonby v. Y.M.C.A.; Tramways, A bye. The transfers of J. Stewart from Thistle to New Lynn and D. Jones from North Shore United to Tramways were approved. Owing to the large number of entries in the senior grade the competition will be continued on Saturday in conjunction with the representative fixture. Second grade games will be cancelled. Owing to the King's Birthday parade at the Domain, the fifth, sixth, seventh, midget and secondary schools' games have also been postponed. DOMINION COUNCIL AFFAIRS CHATHAM CUP COMPETITION [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] •WELLINGTON, Tuesday Reports from Mr. If. L. Godber. manager of the New Zealand Soccer team in Australia, were before a meeting of the New Zealand Football Association this evenin?. The impression was conveyed that the standard of Soccer in Australia had improved considerably. Difficulties liave been encountered in arranging: the proposed New Zealand schoolboys' visit to Australia, the council bein? unable to find, all the necessary funds. Further information from Mr. Godber is awaited. Arrangements nre beme made for thelSew Zealanders to piny a floodlight match against a metropolitan eleven on June 21. It was reported that a total of 36 entries have been received for the Chatham Cup competition, 19 from the South Island and ]7 from the North Island. An extra entry received from Nomads, Cliristchurch, was accepted. The match for the Football Association trophy between Wellington and Otago on Juno 10 was approved.
