NOISY MOTOR-CYCLES
Sir, —1 am astonished at the very childish letter of ]\lr. Hichard Jardin in Tuesday's Hkkaijj. Ho sounds as if he were not old enough to get a driver's licence. 1 write not in the name of old folks who can easily do without a few hours' sleep, but would enter a plea for tired young mothers, who may have lulled a teething child to sleep'only to bo awakened by the diabolical roar of an unsilenced motorbike. Unfortunately an infant's makeup does not contain a silencer, and their mothers need all the sleep they can get. So if Mr. Jardin will look at it from their point of view 1 am sure his generosity will compel him and all his kind from being so utterly selfish as to refrain from doing so in future. Annie A. Ulackwell. Campbell's Bay.
