FOREIGN LOTTERIES
Sir, —The post office will not accept a, postal order to Tattersall or to tho Danzig sweep, or to the Irish Free State gamble. But a private company is at work called pretentiously "British and Foreign Concessions, Limited," v hick transmits money for the consideration of tho rakings, and so baffles the intention of the Government. Such companies are smuggling money out of New Zealand, and investors are absolutely at their mercy. To crown the contradiction the company is giving a trifle from Danzig to our hospitals. .Is the Government content to be flouted like this? Are the hospitals prepared to accept money with this taint of illegality upon it? If tho Government wanted to it could kill tho foreign lottery trade to-morrow. The quick way of euro is to cut out its own silly lotteries, and to put an embargo on all lottery news in the press. J. J. North.
