TELEPHONE BUREAU FEES

Sir, —I would like to know if a little publicity would alter those facts. I am 24 years of age and out of work, a farmer with good experience, anxious to get started again. I answer all advertisements in the Herald. If a telephone number is given I. spend money to try and get a quick reply. On two occasions recently at tlio post office in Symonds Street I have had to pay for a "no reply" call. Surely the-duty of the? post o"flice is to get the number asked for, and if no conversation, why the charge? Work is hard enough to get these days, and money too scarce to throw away on the post office for no reply calls. Wo cannot get any proof of any attempt to get the number required. We are merely told, "No reply, 8d to pay." No wonder all Government devices, trains, etc., are calling out for more public support. They have yet to learn the first thing about public support and that is to give the public a square deal. Still Hopeful and Trying.
