YOUNG MAN MISSING

CLOTHES FOUND IN BOAT VAIN POLICE SEARCH [by telegraph—owx correspondent] WAIUKU, Monday Mystery still surrounds the fate of Mr. Leslie Draper, aged 19, of Auckland, who disappeared yesterday while fishing from a rowing boat in the Manukau Harbour, off Long Xose Point, between Awhitu and Pollok. The missing man's father, Mr. James Draper, arrived at Awhitu early this morning from Auckland, and dragging operations, which proved fruitless, were carried out from a launch by Constable Henry, of Waiuku. The emptj' boat was discovered anchored by Mr. D. O. Kelsey, of Waiuku, who was passing in a launch, and, as only one oar was discovered in the boat, in the bottom of which were the missing man's coat and vest, it is thought that he had dived overboard to recover it, and had been overcome with cramp or carried away by the current. Mr. Draper was a strong swimmer. Two fishing lines, one baited, were found in the boat.
