INCREASED BETTING
NEW, SYSTEM'S' SUCCESS r FIRST TRIAL AT ELLERSLIE RISE OF FOURTEEN PER CENT Tho first trial at Ellerslio on Saturday of the win and place system of betting proved very successful and the turnover of £38.887 represented an increase of £4542, or 14 per cent, on last year's figures. This was reduced to £2150 after tho second race, to £l7lO after the third race, and to £583 after the fourth race. The fifth race, a field of only five, saw the deficit increased again to £1015., The tide then turned and with a good field in the next raco tho total for tho day became £BB6 up, tho seventh raco swelled the rise to £2713 and tho eighth race to £4542.
