YACHTING
RACE TO COROMANDEL ; CAPSIZE OF ONE BOAT The annual yacht race from Auckland to .Coromimdel for keel and centreboard boats Marled from King's Wharf on Thursday evening. The race was divided into tihree classes, keel yachts, mullet boats ahnl.lSft. and under. ; Twenty-one bonts faced the starter and all were nent away together. Starlight was 10m late, but Cie remainder of the fleet got away within a few seconds of one another. The race, was timed to start at 8 p.m., hut owing to a number of the boats being unable to reach the line at, that hour it was decided to delay the start until 8.20 p.m., when a light south-west wind was experienced. The starters in the race for mullet honts were Omntere, Cclox. Starlock, Starlight, Kin Ora, Mirage, Komuri. Doreen, Malua, Waitohi. The competitors in the race for keel yachts wero Mahaki, Speedwell and Queenie. The following bonts started in the race for lfift and 18ft classes:—Maroro, Drone, Mnia, Rita, Pnroro. Desiree, Mystic, Avro. At a late hour last night the finishing times were not decided. During the race Mystic capsized and lost her gear.
