SURF LIFE-SAVING

INTER-PROVINCIAL CONTEST An inter-provincial surf life-saving contest will he held on Taknpuna Beach tomorrow afternoon, when a team representing Wellington and composed of members of the Lvall Bay Club will meet teams from th- Milford and Tnkanuna Clubs. The trophy at stake is the McTntosh Cup. which was donated by a member of tho Wellington Club for annual competition among the three clubs. It was intended for home and home competition, but last year's winner, Milford, was unable to travel and the Lyall Bnv Club decided to visit Auckland again. The contest includes a march past, seven-man team, as well as a fourman alarm event and land drill. The Wellington team will arrive this morning. Th? land drill will be held tomorrow morning and the water work in the afternoon. A feature of the competition will bo that the three teams will take the water together and race to the parents at tho same t'rnc. The competition will be held under the control of the Royal Life-Saving Soeietv, the judges being Messrs. K. C. Reid, R. Moor and G. W. Cameron.
