Dr. Sylvia Chapnian, of Wellington, is visiting Tauranga, and is staying with Mrs. G. L. Cook, of Seventh Avenue.
Mrs. H. Bradney Williams is spending a fortnight's holiday in Rotorua. Miss M. Sanders has left on a visit to Hanmer.
Mrs. May field, of Hampshire, England, who is visiting relations in New Zealand, has returned from Kerikeri and will spend a fortnight in Tauranga before proceeding to Wellington. Mrs. H. B. Hewlett, of Edgecumbo Road, is on a fishing trip to Mayor Island, where she has already been very successful and has caught several swordfish, all of a good weight.
Croquet players are making the most of the very fine weather and several enjoyable parties have been given recently. One of these was given by Mrs. Beale, of Ninth Avenue, who entertained her friends, and a very pleaasnt afternoon was spent on the lawn. Among those present were Mr. and Mrs. Waterston, Mrs. J. Jordan, Mrs. Brookes and Mr. and Mrs. E. Carr. The ladies of the W.C.T.U. gave a. garden party on Wednesday afternoon in the grounsd of Fairlight, the residence of Mrs. F. N. Christian, of Sixth Avenue. Clock golf and qtiier competitions on the lawns' and tea served under the trees helped to make the function a very pleasant and successful one.
During the last month a very amusing baby contest has been rousing enthusiasm among adherents of the Methodist Church. Every method of raising money has been tried and the contest came to an end this week with a win for the guild and trust team's candidate, Bryan Teasy. The results were announced and trophies presented at a crowded gathering.
