CLUBS AND DOG TRACKS SUPPRESSION IN ENGLAND (Received February 10. 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, Feb. 9 It was announced in the House of Commons to-day that the Government had adopted the decision of the Court that totalisators are illegal anywhere except on horse racecourses. It intends to enforce the law as it stands against them, both in clubs and on dog racing tracks. All the totalisators on greyhound tracks in England and Wales are expected to be closed to-morrow. Those in London were closed to-night following warnings from the police that prosecutions would be instituted unless they were discontinued forthwith. Bookmakers will conduct all betting and the greyhound societies have given instructions for the totalisators on their tracks throughout the country to be closed. The News Chronicle estimates tfiat 14,000 operators will lose their employment.
