SIX MEN CHARGED

Monday Six men who were arrested 011 charges in connection with Saturday's unemployed demonstration appeared before Mr. E. Pa?e, S.M., in Die Magistrate's Court today. Five of them are natives of England. John Liglitfoot, who was arresled today, was charged with being a. rogue and a vagabond in that lie was found to be armed with an offensive weapon, a baton, wi h felonious intent. Roy Evans, labourer, aged 27, was charged with wilfully obstructing Constable MePhee while in (he execution of his duty and inciting John James Porter to resist Detective-Sergeant 'JYirklebank while in the execution of Jiis duly. The others, James .Porter, seaman, aged 27, William Ilcrmin Gladwin, seaman, 26, (Diaries Thomas Hoiden, seaman, 56, and William Benjamin Wilkinson, labourer, 36, were, each charged with behaving in a disorderly manner in a public: place and taking part in an unauthorised procession. Counsel for Ihe accused asked for a remand until Friday. "Detective-Sergeant Tricklebank said the police had no objection to remands and would agree to the renewal of bail. The magistrate granted remands. Porter, Gladwin, Hoiden and Wilkinson were admitted to bail on bonds of £5 each and Evans on a bond of £lO.
