C.5 p.m.) British Wireless RUGBY, Nov. 23 The Prime Minister, Mr. Mac Donald, in referring in the Ilonso of Commons to-day to schemes for the alleviation of unemployment, moro than once mentioned the promotion of the coal bydrogenation process for the extraction of petrol and other oils as a means of stimulating the mining industry.
Tho extension of land settlement and allotment schemes and tho encouragement of home crafts in rural areas as a means of providing useful occupations and maintaining morale were also among his proposals. Viscount Hailsham slated that 60,000 of the unemployed now possessed garden allotments. Tho Government hoped that during the coming year 30.000 additional allotments would be provided.
