METHODIST GUILD
SUCCESSFUL AT HOME
To mark the closing of St. John's Methodist Women's Guild's activities for the year and to augment church finance for tho gift Sunday on December 11, an enjoyable At Home, organised by Mrs. Geo. Smith, was held in the School Hall, Ponsonhy Road, yesterday afternoon. Mrs. Geo. Frost, guild president, extended a cordial welcome to tho many guests present, among whom weie mcmbeis of sister guilds who once were attached to St. John's.
An entertaining programme, comprising pianoforte fiolos by Mrs. Reg. Reed, who also acted as accompanist; vocal items by Miss Lillian Braithwaite, Miss Mona Johnston, Itev. Arthur Mitchell, and Mr. Roger Ellington; elocutionary items by Mrs. C. hinder and little Miss Pamela hinder and Miss Hamilton; and instrumental selections by Miss F. Cooke, Mrs. Bridgens, Mrs. Cyril Dowden and Mrs. Reg. Pawson were greatly appreciated. After the serving of a delicious afternoon tea Mrs. Frost, on behalf of the Rev. Geo. Frost, eulogised tho guild's work, and thanked Mrs. Smith and her committee, also the artists who had contributed largely to the success of the afternoon.
