A NEW ZEALAND NOVEL
Sir, —Reference was made at. the Writers' Club last week to "The Greenstone Door," a book published over 20 years, ago by William Satchell. The president, Isabel Maud Peacocke, spoke of the book as being a credit to New Zealand—a graceful tribute which will be endorsed by the few wbo have read and enjoyed this highly-meritorious work. "The Greenstone Door," for <|ome reason, never became widely known and has faded almost into oblivion. We are often told that no New Zealand writer has yet produced a really great book. What then of this classic of the early days of New Zealand? I am sure a reissue of "The Greenstone Door" would be welcomed by a more appreciative public of to-day, who would rightfully place Sir. Satchell in tho forefront of New Zealand writers. Zealakdia.
