FREE ADVICE WORKS WELL COLONIAL BOY'S SPEED A GOOD MILE AND A-QUARTER Wcathcr conditions were idonl for trainin!; at Addington on Saturday and the track, which had been well harrowed four sulkies out from tho rail, provided excellent going. All tlie work recorded was done four sulkies out, with few exceptions. Colonial Hoy, who went a mile and a-qunr-ter in 2.47, nnd Free Advice, Muriel do Oro, and Hollo were among tho stars of the track. Belinda was tho early bird. She was worked over a milo and a-half, and then a milo and a-quarter, but she was not timed. George Rey, going alone and the reverse way, was responsible for a pleasing effort over two miles. After going the first mile in 2.10, the mile and a-half was passed in 3.27 and the full distance in '1.33, but be was doing his best over tho closing stages. Gold Country, driven by his owner, was not asked for his best when covering a mile and a-quarter in 2.52 2-3. Breaking away on a mile and a-half journey, Wilma Dillon left 2 3-5s in front of Free Advice. With the first half covered in 1.10 2-3, Free Advice, pacing splendidly, was only a length away; the mile, taking 2.15. saw them separated by tho same margin. Going along the back the mare closed up, nnd at a mile and a-quarter, reached in 2.51, she was almost on terms with Wilma Dillon. In a good finish to the wire, they tlew past locked together. Free Advice went 3.20 2-5, and Wilma Dillon 3.23. Both pulled up very well. Auto Machine, assisted by a maiden pacer over tho opening stages, and brought home by Great Logan over tho last mile, covered a mile and a-quarter well out in 3.2. Somerby, going unstrapped, covered a milo nicely in 2.19. Nelsonian, alone, went a mile and a-half in 3.33. finishing well. Harvest Child and Golden Direct went away on terms three lengths in front of Rey Direct, with Cyono two lengths farther back and Muriel de Oro standing the leading pair up 3 2-5s over a mile and a-quarter. With the first mile gone in 2.18, the back ones had closed up, with Muriel de Oro now only three lengths away. Golden Direct .just beat Rey Direct, with Muriel do Oro only a neck away, in 2.50 2-5. The last-named registered 2.47, and was on the extreme outer all tho way. Royal Comrade, going unstrapped, covered 10 furlongs very nicely in 2.57. Rollo, assisted by Belle Lorimer (who galloped all the way) was picked up by Colorado when he had gone two and a-half furlongs over a two-mile run. Keeping well out, the Cup horse pasaed the first mile in 2.25, the milo and a-half in 3.34, and the full distance in 4.33 2-5. When finishing on fast in the run home Colorado put in a skip, which spoilt what would have been an interesting finish. Nelson Ata made no mistakes covering 12 furlongs, but he was not out for time. Nimble Direct and Princess Mauritius went away three lengths in front of Wilbur White over a mile and a-half work-out. With the first mile gone in 2.17, the backmarker was barely a length away, but after that Nimble Direct drew away, and at the post was three lengths in front of tho mare, with Wilbur White the same margin away, in 3.23 2-5. Arikitoa, driven by her owner, was sent two miles, taking 2.27 for the first mile, lie covered the iull distance in 4.46 2-5, but 0.-er the concluding stages he was close in on tho fence. Tempest and Wrecker, both unstrapped, covered a mile and three-quarters, going solidly all the way. They were well on the ""colonial Boy stood up Linkmau two and a-half lengths over a milo and a-quarter. With the first mile covered in 1.7, Colonial Boy was in front, and from there out lie increased the go>p» covering the first mi | e in 2.13 4-5, tlio best of the morning, lie beat Jjinkmau by over 100 yards at the post, which he reached nicely in 2.47, finishing very well.
