SUNDAY SCHOOL UNION
PAST YEAR REVIEWED ELECTION OF OFFICERS A year of marked growth in almost every department was recorded in the 67th annual report of the Auckland Sunday School Union, which vras presented at its annual meeting las;; evening. It stated that the roll on September 30 comprised 335 schools, 2931 teachers and 26,341 scholars, a slight decrease oil the previous year's figures, due to th s non-affiliation of some schools and not tc> a decline in Sunday School membership. At the Scripture examination in June, 162 schools presented 2906 candidates, of whom 2165 sat, representing an increase of 118 over last year's figures. The circulating library had been widely used and was still popular, although in its 12th year. As tho books were on loan at one penny per month per book, this library .system effected a considerable saviag to schools. It had also been possible to transfer £SO from the accumulated fund of the library to the general funds of "be union. Adverse trade conditions and the inability to let vacant rooms in the union's building had caused a serious shrinkage in revenue. Every effort had been made to _ reduce expenditure, although it was evident that before long considerable sums might havo to bo spent to repair and renovate the building. Tho following officers were elecled:— President, Mr. W. 11. Newton; vice-presi-dents, Miss D. Earle, Itov. H. A. G. Clark and the Rev. W. T. Blight; secretary, the Rev. L. B. treasurer, Mr. W. A.
