NEW HENDERSON BRIDGE

PRELIMINARY WORK STARTED COMPLETION IN FIVE MONTHS t> Preliminary work on the new ferro-con-crete bridge over the Oratiu Stream at Henderson has been commenced and tho structure is expected to be completed next April. Twelve tenders, ranging from £3975 to £2998, were received by the Henderson Town Board, the lowest, that of Messrs. Wilcox and Company, being accepted. Tho structure will be 51ft. long and 34ft. wide. A temporary bridge to carry pedestrian traffic is being constructed prior to the demolition of the old structure. Vehicular traffic will still use the detour route by way of Grange, View and Station Roads. The time allowed in the contract for the completion of the bridge is six months, but it is confidently anticipated that five months will be sufficient. The cost of the work will be borne by eight authorities, the highest contributor b-jiiig the Main Highways Board, with 63 per cent.
