DEVIATION IN THE NORTH SUM OF £BOO AUTHORISED [BY TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT! WHANG AREI, Thursday The following advice was received today from the acting-Minister of Public Works, tlio Hon. C. E. Macmillan, by Mr. L. Webb, chairman of the Whangarei County Council, with regard to the metalling of Keay's Deviation:—"l find that new money to the extent of £BOO, the subsidy being £3 for £l, is proposed for the metalling of this road this year, and as the result of your request it has been decided to approve authorisation c-f this sum immeJiately so that a comlnencoment may be made with the work." The money made available will provido for the completion of tho base course of metal and afford relief to a largo number of settlers. The matter has been brought "before the council for a number of years and county officials are pleased that finality has now been reached.
