FARMERS' BREAKAWAY

DOMINION UNION BREACH SEPARATE AUCKLAND BODY DIFFERENCES NOT SETTLED [by telegraph—rttESS association] WELLING TON, Thumb y For some lime there has been marked diversity of opinion between the Dominion executive of tho Now Zealand Farmers' Union and the Auckland provincial executive over sonic matters contained in Farming First, the official organ of the latter body. At a recent Dominion executive meeting a committee consisting of Messrs. W. W. Mulholland (chairman), H. E. Blyde, D. Dickie, C. C. Jackson, W. Morrison and E. H. Murney, considered the position and presented the following report to the executive meeting to-day:— "We have discussed with tho Auckland representatives, Messrs. A. A. Ross and R. H. Feisst, the continually-recur-ring domestic, differences caused fundamentally by sharply-divergent ideas how best to press to finality the decisions of the Dominion conference and executive. The discussion was at all times conducted in a most friendly manner and all parties fully realised tho gravity of tlie situation and tlio importance of any decisions which might be reached. "It was found impossible to come to any understanding with the Auckland representatives which gave any promise of being final. Tlio committee, therefore, with very great regret, recommends that Mr. Ross' suggestion that tho Auckland provincial oxecutivc bo allowed to form a separate organisation, for whose policy the Farmers' Union will bo in no way responsible, be acceptod, and that ho be authorised to inform tho Auckland provincial executive that tho Dominion executive would facilitate, in a friendly way, such separation. Tho basis of separation should be decided at tho earliest possible moment." Tho report was unanimously adopted by the Dominion executive and will bo considered by the Auckland executive at its next meeting.
