LITERARY CIRCLE
Tho literary circle of the, Whangarei Women's Club completed its season's activities this week when the members entertained a large number of club members and their friends to a dramatic evening. The programme, which was arranged by Sliss Broughton-Carr, included a pianoiorte solo by Sladame Rolfe-Smith. an amusing domestic comedy, " References," played by Sirs. G. H. Slorrisii and Slisses Broughton-Carr, a recitation by Sirs. CJriffen, and a humorous sketch, " Alexander's Horse," played by Sliss W. Wise, Slessrs. Slarsden Woods and 11. Steele. The second part of the programme was a dramatic reading of Noel Coward's popular play, " I'll Leave It To You." This gave groat enjoyment to the audience, who were quick to appreciate the witty dialogue and humorous situations of the play. A hearty recall was demanded at the fall of the curtain. Tho cast was as follows: Mrs. Dermott, played by Sliss L. Brough-ton-Carr; Evangabne, by Sliss W. Wise; Sylvia. Miss M. Broughton-Carr; Joyce, Sliss E. Higginson; Sirs. Cronihie, Sirs. Griffen; Faith Crombie, STiss W. Lamb; Bobbie, Sir. G. Hill; Oliver, Mr. H. Steele; Grigcs, Sir. Piper; and Uncle Daniel, by l\lr. D. Smedley. After the play supper was served by the circle members.
