AVONDALE RACES

THE NEW SPRING HATS BRIGHT COLOURS WORN Although fine weather favoured the first day of the Avondale Jockey Club's Spring Meeting on Saturday, it appears still a little early for many new spring models to show themselves. There were, however, some very charming frocks and coats worn, while the new spring fashions were revealed more prominently in the hats. Straw hats have finally replaced the winter felts and the boater shape, in spite of its rather hard line, is surprisingly easy to wear. The rather unusual colour combination of red, white and blue was very popular, the touch of red usually being combined with a blue and white hat and a sheer blue frock or coat.
