TRAFFIC DEPARTMENT
SOCIAL CLUB CONCERT The social club of the Auckland City traffic department held a smoke concert on Saturday evening, Mr. G. R. Hogan presiding over a large attendance. Replying to the toast of the Mayor, Mr. G. W. Hutchison said ho considered that the traffic department of the City Council should be run with efficiency, as it was always before the public. Besides the responsibility of directing the traffic, the department was the representative of the City Council throughout the whole of Auckland. "A great sporting spirit exists among the Auckland drivers of to-day," said Mr. T. Botterill in proposing the toast of the "Gentlemen of the Cross Roads." "It seems to be the constant desire of the motorists to co-operate with the officers of the traffic department," he added. Several other toasts were honoured.
